Risk disclosure
Plain words, before you play.
The basics
- No real funds on the hosted app. Practice uses credits, and Live orders execute on Strike testnet, with testnet USD. A deployment can execute on Strike mainnet only when its operator turns that on explicitly; there, Live uses real funds.
- No cash value. Practice credits and testnet USD have no real value. You can't buy, sell, withdraw or redeem them.
- Not financial advice. Nothing in strikeabox or these docs is investment, trading or financial advice, or a recommendation to trade anything.
- Not a predictor of real results. How you do here says nothing reliable about how you would do trading real money.
Practice mode
- You should expect to lose credits over time. Every multiplier has a 10 % house edge built in. Under the model, you get back at most 90 % of what you stake, on average. Measured on recorded Strike prices, the return was lower than that. See Fairness and calibration.
- The model is a model. The probabilities behind the multipliers come from a random-walk model with simplifying assumptions (no trend, steady volatility), and from how often recent real prices touched similar boxes. Each quote takes the higher of the two. Real prices don't follow either exactly, and the next hour can behave differently from the last half hour. See Multipliers and the model.
- Results are exact; the price is Strike's. Outcomes follow fixed, published rules on Strike's recorded mark price. If the feed has a gap, an undecided box is voided and refunded, never lost.
Live mode
A live box opens a real leveraged perpetual futures position on the Strike network the deployment trades on (testnet on the hosted app). Testnet money has no value, but the mechanics are those of a real derivatives exchange. On mainnet the money is real.
- No fixed payout. You get what the market gives you. There is no multiplier.
- A target hit can still lose. Strike's trading fee and the strikeabox builder fee are charged on entry and on exit, and the spread comes on top. For the small moves on the grid, those costs can be larger than the gain at the target. See Fees.
- Leverage amplifies. Your position uses your Strike account's leverage for that market. Gains and losses are on the full notional, not just the margin.
- Fills can be worse than the trigger. Targets and stops trigger on the mark price but fill in the order book. On a thin book, the fill can be far from the trigger. An entry can also fail to fill at all.
- Liquidation. Like any leveraged position, a live position can be liquidated by Strike if your margin runs out.
- A close can fail. If strikeabox can't close a position at the deadline, it stays open on Strike (
CLOSE_FAILED) until you close it yourself. - Outages. Strike, strikeabox or your connection can go down. Target and stop orders rest at Strike, but the time exit needs the strikeabox worker.
- Key custody. strikeabox holds an API key that can trade on your Strike account. It can't withdraw. If the strikeabox server were compromised, someone could place or cancel orders on that account. You can revoke the key at any time; see Disconnect and revoke.
Keep it a game
Set yourself limits. strikeabox has a daily stake limit and a session reminder: see Responsible play.
