Troubleshooting
The price feed is paused or stale
What you see: a stale banner, a greyed-out grid, a break in the price line. Taps are rejected with "Price feed paused".
Why: no price has arrived from Strike for 3 seconds, or Strike's timestamps are running more than 2 seconds away from our clock. strikeabox won't quote or accept anything without a live, trustworthy price. The chart doesn't fill the gap with made-up prices.
What to do: wait. It clears by itself when prices flow again. Your open boxes are safe: a box touched before the gap still wins, and a box whose window lost coverage without a touch is voided and refunded.
"Order book paused"
What you see: the order book bars next to the grid turn grey, and the strip or the market sheet says "Order book paused".
Why: the server's copy of Strike's order book isn't current right now (the whole book hasn't been read from Strike for 20 seconds, or it is being rebuilt after a reconnect), or the app has lost its connection. The bars are only shown as current when they are.
What to do: nothing. It clears by itself. The order book never changes a practice box's multiplier or result. In Live mode, the liquidity gate stays closed until the book is current again.
"Price moved"
The multiplier dropped by more than 3 % between the quote you saw and your tap reaching the server, or the box became too likely to be offered. You get the fresh multiplier when there is one. Tap again if you still want the box. You're never given a worse multiplier than the one you saw.
"Box closed"
Boxes close 3 seconds before their window starts, by the server's clock. If your tap arrives after that, it's rejected. Tap a later column, or tap a little earlier. On a slow connection, give yourself more than 3 seconds.
"Quote expired"
Quotes last 3 seconds. A tap that takes longer to arrive is rejected. It usually means a slow or congested connection. Tap again.
You're offline
Tapping is disabled while you're offline, and nothing is queued. When you reconnect, the app refreshes your boxes and balance. If a tap's response was lost on the way back, the app asks the server about that exact tap and shows its single real result.
The wallet won't sign
- No wallet found. Use a browser with your wallet installed, or the wallet's own in-app browser on mobile.
- Wrong chain or account. The address in the message must be the one you picked in strikeabox. Switch the account in your wallet and start again.
- Nothing happens when you tap Sign. Your wallet may be locked, or its pop-up blocked. Unlock it, allow pop-ups for the app, and try again.
- "Challenge expired". Strike's challenge lasts 5 minutes. Start the connection again.
- "Too many connection attempts". Each attempt is a call to Strike, so they are limited to 5 per account in any ten minutes. Wait about ten minutes and try once more.
- Signature rejected by Strike. Sign the message exactly as shown. Don't edit it, and don't use a wallet feature that signs something else, like a transaction.
- Builder or fee error. If Strike reports a problem with the builder or the fee, Live mode may not be set up correctly on this deployment. Practice mode is unaffected.
Cardano (CIP-30)
- Your wallet must support the CIP-30 dApp connector and its data signing (
signData). Most browser wallets do. Some hardware-wallet setups don't support signing arbitrary data. - Allow strikeabox in the wallet's dApp connector when it asks, and pick the account you want to connect.
- The signature Strike receives is a CIP-30 COSE signature plus its key. strikeabox handles the format; you only approve the signing.
- If the wallet asks which address to sign with, use the same address you connected.
Live mode says the key is revoked
Strike answered "authentication failed" or "wallet expired or revoked". The API wallet expired, or it was revoked in the Strike app, or replaced by a newer connection. Connect again. Check the Strike app for any position that was open at the time: strikeabox can't manage it without a working key.
A live box says CLOSE_FAILED
strikeabox couldn't close your position at the deadline. It is still open on Strike. Open the Strike app (testnet.strikefinance.org on the hosted app), close the position, and cancel any leftover orders. Full steps: CLOSE_FAILED.
A market is closed in Live mode
The Live bar shows the reason, for example "Testnet book too thin: only $120 of bids within 0.75% of mark (need $200)". The order book is too thin for a position that can be exited safely: the best bid or ask is too far from the mark price, or the orders resting near the mark add up to less than twice the notional. The gate is the same for long and short. It also closes, with its own reason, when the order book or the mark price isn't current. Try another market, or use practice mode. See Liquidity gate.
A notional can also be greyed out for another reason: Strike's minimum order value on that market. On BTC-USD on testnet, at the time of writing, it is $100, so the $25 and $50 presets are off.
Live says the plan changed
The order book moved between the plan you reviewed and your tap, so the side, size, target or stop is no longer what you saw. Nothing was opened. Review the new plan and tap again.
Live says you already have a box on that market
Live allows one open box per market, and it refuses a market where your Strike account already holds a position. Close the box or the position first, or pick another market.
A live box ended NOT_FILLED
The entry is limited to the best opposite price, and nothing filled there, usually because the orders at that price were gone by the time it arrived. No position was opened and nothing was charged. This is common on testnet, where books are often thin.
The plan says "Nothing would fill"
The plan's expected fill found no orders resting at the entry price in the order book, so Confirm stays off: the entry would open nothing. Wait for the book to fill in, or try another market. See Expected fill.
Still stuck?
Open an issue on GitHub with what you saw and roughly when. Never include a wallet seed phrase or private key: nobody at strikeabox will ever ask for one.
